Homespun Style.

I've just got the book 'Homespun Style' by Selina Lake. It's a lovely book to see during this sunny weather, with inspiring light bright interiors. Here are a few of my favourite bits. Excuse the bleached photos!
The above picture is from the authors home.I like the idea of the hankie bunting.

These childrens rooms were my favourite pages in the book. They show show the home of Shella Anderson.
I wish my fabrics looked like this!
There were some beautiful ceramics by Arendal Keramic.
There are loads of other vintage modern interiors to see too.
I used the book to photograph some ceramic experiments of my own! Not coloured yet....

Happy creating!

Fairy, Picasso, Ben Nicholson and Anne Rothenstein.

I have been doing a little more painting, and looking again at some of the artists I admire. They all seem to be about bold shapes and colour.

Gardening - in my head! with a folky (funky) chicken.

The main picture is Picasso, and the figures are Anne Rothenstein with a few napkins and colour splodges for good measure.

The last three are quite basic sketches of mine from Ben Nicholson paintings.
I love the simplicity of the faces
Lastly,I decided to make a cushion with some of the bright fabric. It has been listed on Folksy today.

vintage fabric.

I found some cheerful vintage fabric this weekend, I'm wondering what to do with it?

It would make lovely cushions, or bags, or toys, or retro fairies.

This sort of fabric makes me happy!

On the flipside of design, I still seem to be making vintage inspired items at the moment.

The Easter pocket above has tea dyed lace, and a retro image sewn on the front.

And two more 'nests' with dear little Easter chicks.

Easter decorations.

Well it is already in the shops! I have been buying wrapped chocolate for using in photographs- any old excuse.

I have been making more little pockets.
The idea came from wanting keepsakes for the children. I don't know about you but I'm not keen on so much packaging on other eggs, and I tend to buy our children foil covered chocolate and make up something different.
I also need to make some cards.
I'm doing a 'pop up' shop in Stuart House in Liskeard from 12th - 17th of March if anyone can go!

I'm also finding other Easter bits. This ceramic rabbit was supposed to be taken to a sale last year, but it was only later I realised that my daughter had 'borrowed' it, and it was back at home!
